"Photographing the space of his studio, Lois Renner plays with confusing references and relationships of scale. Art historical props or actual full-sized ordinary objects appear in his models, as does the artist himself. Renner thus puts our capacities of spatial perception to the test, he questions and expands on the traditional interior. What is portrayed and what is constructed - or better said - the image space and the space of the image become one and the same, as in the works of Thomas Demand."
