"„Month of Photography“? Why not „Satchel of Photography“ or „Prison of Photography"? Will only photography be shown for a month? MUMOK has just opened this year's exhibition highlight: 400 peaces, all based on photography. I, who have placed so much trust in photography, should rejoice but in my typical fashion I remain sceptical. Art history shows all too clearly, what happens when a medium only "races ahead". I am an artist who is not just interested in pushing the trottle but also in steering in a sensible way. In the „Month of Photography“, I am showing pictures that are new at least in terms of production.

My group of works that go under the title "Renner Paintings" with which I have gained a name, reflect a phenomenon of artistic work that I both love and hate. Art makes use of model to emulate nature. When it does not succed in doing so, we use a trick to destroy this model until the balance is right again. In commemoration of all the beauty that has been sacrificed in this way, I have focused exclusively on my nearest surroundings, the "studio". The studio and its architecture as a sacrifice of creative joy. Ideally, the model is improved in the process."
