From the Press Text:
Lois Renner creates photographs, in which the rendition of reality is alienated by the interference of the artist. Areas and objects stand in a not easily understood relationship to each other. The character of the rooms in Renners work are filled with mystery. Are the the rooms real or are they built models? Do the objects in the rooms have a meaning or is there presence coincidental. The jump between reality and art reality is a main theme in Adolph Menzels Atelierwall. Werner Hoffman described Menzels painting form 1872 as a "coded manifesto" referring to its multilayerdness. In this work lies the inspiration for the work from Lois Renner.
The exhibtion will show three works from Adolph Menzel relating to the topic of the Atelierpicture: The Atelierwall from the Hamburger Kunsthalle, the Atelierwall from the Nationalgalerie Berlin and the Gouache Friedrich d. Gr. visits Pesne in Rheinsberg, from Lois Renner there will be approximately 15 Fotographs on display.
